The Last of Color

This afternoon when I got home from work I walked the dogs enjoyed a few minutes out in the yard. Most of the leaves are gone but we still have a little color out around the flower bed. Our fall was not as pretty this year and was very short lived. I am so thankful that I live in Southern KY where I am surrounded by beauty. The beauty here is unreal. Thank you Sweet Jesus!

Fun Friday with the Girls

We had lunch "on top of the world" The view was beautiful from Mill Point in Southern Wayne Co. A fun day to hang out with gurlfrens.

Last Friday I took the day off from work and spent the day in the mountains with gurlfrens. We had a ball.

Basket Class

Last week I went to a fun basket class. (but I think all basket classes are fun!) I made this swing handle market basket. I LOVE it and think it will be one that I will use a lot. It was a fun basket to make but that handle... was a pain. I do not think I will be doing another one that has a handle that attaches that way.

RICE HOLLOW GATHERING

This year marked the 12th annual Rice Hollow Gathering. Around 200 family and friends gathered on a cold October day for food, fellowship and fun. The McGinnis and Gibbs Family thank all who came.Start making plans now to attend next year.

Steven had never seen anyone rolling a rim and soon found out that it is NOT as easy as it looks.

I think he enjoyed the beauty of Rice Hollow and the fellowship of family and friends. I cant wait to take him to all the lookouts in the area. Almost all of them breathtaking.

My Brothers

Three of my four brothers.
I am the oldest of 7 children and grew up being the caregiver. I LOVE my siblings. My brother Noel has just turned 41(standing with shorts on-High School History Teacher), my brother Freddy(red shirt-owner and driver of Triple T Trucking)will be 40 in a few weeks, and my brother Allen(in chair-Military Retired, now Regional Director for the Job Corp) turned 44 this year. It is so hard to believe that we are all in our 40's- except for our youngest sister Beth.
*Remembering my brother James...he would have been 45 this year. We miss you so much...

Visiting an Old Family Cemetery in the Mountains

My great grandma Matilda Stephens Edwards has a new stone with her name on it! Thank you cousin David.

My great Grandpa John Wesley Edwards now has a stone! Thank you cousin David.

I got to visit my great great grandparents grave in the Mountains of WC KY. It was wonderful to decorate a stone with their name on it, instead of a small field stone. Thanks to a distant cousin that I have never met. Thank you Dianna. Someday we will visit the cemetery together.

Perserving An Old Homeplace!

Work has began! This old orig. homeplace in the mountains is being restored!

The house has a new roof and new porches!

The old home place has 2 sections. A huge fireplace divides the house. I have never seen a house built like this. You have to go outside to get to the other room in the house.

We Found Wild Red Raspberries to Make Yummy Jelly

Gary picked me some beautiful wild raspberries while we were in the mountains over the holiday. I prayed he would not get copperhead or rattlesnake bit. Thank God he only got ticks! I will make some yummy raspberry jelly.

Sleeping in this big ole comfy bed was GREAT! It rained most of the night Saturday night and I really enjoyed hearing the rain hit the tin roof...I slept until 7:00 a.m.!! That is LATE for me.

We had a wonderful weekend. The mountains are beautiful. It was just so relaxing we had the whole hollow to ourselve. It was so quite at night and the bed in the loft slept so good. The weather was WONDERFUL! We took long walks during the day and enjoyed God's Creation. At night we sat by the fire and talked.

Moist Mini Carrot Cakes

Moist Mini Carrot Cakes

2 eggs
1 C. oil
2 C. brown sugar
2 C. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
3 C. grated carrots
5 oz. crushed pineapple; drained
1 C. chopped nuts

Mix together eggs, oil and sugar. Add brown sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and cinnamon. Blend in carrots and pineapple. Mix well and add nuts. Pour into 9x13 greased pan. Bake at 350 for 35-45 min. Frost when cool. Adjust cooking time for cupcakes.

Cream Cheese Frosting
1 8 oz pkg. softened cream cheese
1/4 lb softened butter
1-1/2 lb powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
