We Enjoyed a Peaceful, Quite 4th of July Holiday!

We enjoyed our long holiday weekend so much.

Rolling fields of Wayne County.

Fresh cut hay.

Sleeping in this big ole comfy bed was GREAT! It rained most of the night Saturday night and I really enjoyed hearing the rain hit the tin roof...I slept until 7:00 a.m.!! That is LATE for me.

When I was a little girl our farm had an ole corn crib like this one!

The girls (our dogs) loved playing in this Ice Cold Spring.

I remember my Grandma hanging clothes across an old pickett fence like this one.

We had a wonderful weekend. The mountains are beautiful. It was just so relaxing we had the whole hollow to ourselve. It was so quite at night and the bed in the loft slept so good. The weather was WONDERFUL! We took long walks during the day and enjoyed God's Creation. At night we sat by the fire and talked.

In Memory of my DAD

In memory of my Dad---Happy Father's Day
5/2/36-5/30/06
Plowing the rolling hills of Wayne Co. KY mid 1960's.
I miss him so much.

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majest of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
And there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it . . . Dad.

On My Porches

I went out to water the flowers and thought I would snap a few pictures to share. My flowers dont seem to be growing as well this year:(. Oh well, the summer is still young.

Guess, you can tell I don't shop in a lawn and garden department for my flower pots. You guessed it, some were handed down and some from my favorite junk stores.

Look what I found on my lunch hour!

Today, I went junkin on my lunch hour. (I need to do without a few meals. ha)
Look what I found! I have the perfect place for this grungy ole table.
Many years ago I got an old shelf out of a chicken house(it was being used for nesting boxes). It hung in my shed for years, then I scrubbed it up and brought it in to use for a shelf in my kitchen. I had been looking for a "bottom" and today I found this little grungy table, it works perfect...dont you think? I LOVE the grungy old look!
By-the-way, it is clean. I scrubbed it, it is just very worn, just the way I like it.
