Perserving An Old Homeplace!

Work has began! This old orig. homeplace in the mountains is being restored!

The house has a new roof and new porches!

The old home place has 2 sections. A huge fireplace divides the house. I have never seen a house built like this. You have to go outside to get to the other room in the house.

We Found Wild Red Raspberries to Make Yummy Jelly

Gary picked me some beautiful wild raspberries while we were in the mountains over the holiday. I prayed he would not get copperhead or rattlesnake bit. Thank God he only got ticks! I will make some yummy raspberry jelly.

We Enjoyed a Peaceful, Quite 4th of July Holiday!

We enjoyed our long holiday weekend so much.

Rolling fields of Wayne County.

Fresh cut hay.

Sleeping in this big ole comfy bed was GREAT! It rained most of the night Saturday night and I really enjoyed hearing the rain hit the tin roof...I slept until 7:00 a.m.!! That is LATE for me.

When I was a little girl our farm had an ole corn crib like this one!

The girls (our dogs) loved playing in this Ice Cold Spring.

I remember my Grandma hanging clothes across an old pickett fence like this one.

We had a wonderful weekend. The mountains are beautiful. It was just so relaxing we had the whole hollow to ourselve. It was so quite at night and the bed in the loft slept so good. The weather was WONDERFUL! We took long walks during the day and enjoyed God's Creation. At night we sat by the fire and talked.

In Memory of my DAD

In memory of my Dad---Happy Father's Day
5/2/36-5/30/06
Plowing the rolling hills of Wayne Co. KY mid 1960's.
I miss him so much.

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majest of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
And there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it . . . Dad.
